After our magical stay at Lake Como, Marc and I were ready to hit the road again—this time with some extra company! Along with our adventurous dog, Bernice, Marc’s father joined us as we made our way to St. Moritz, Switzerland, a place renowned for its alpine beauty and luxurious charm. This leg of our motorhome journey would be a special family trip, filled with stunning landscapes and peaceful moments together.

It was tough to say goodbye to the calm waters and cinematic villas of Lake Como, but knowing that the Swiss Alps were waiting for us made it easier. We packed up our motorhome, making sure Bernice and Marc’s dad were both comfortable for the scenic drive ahead.

Marc’s father had decided to stay with us for a while, though hiking wasn’t his thing. He preferred the tranquility of the motorhome and enjoying the views at a more leisurely pace. He brought along his books and enjoyed sharing stories about his own travels with us. Bernice, of course, was eager for whatever lay ahead, her nose pressed against the window as we pulled away from the lake.

The drive from Lake Como to St. Moritz was nothing short of spectacular. As we climbed into the Alps, the scenery unfolded into snow-capped mountains, deep valleys, and lush green meadows. The narrow roads twisted and turned, making for a thrilling drive, but Marc handled it with ease, while his dad kept him company in the front, admiring the majestic views.

Bernice, always relaxed in the motorhome, curled up on her blanket as we took in the breathtaking landscape. We stopped occasionally to stretch our legs, taking short walks along the road. While Marc and I wandered off to explore some of the quieter trails, Marc’s dad stayed with the motorhome, enjoying the peaceful surroundings from the comfort of our mobile home.

When we reached St. Moritz, it was like stepping into an alpine postcard. The town’s glistening lake, framed by towering mountains, was even more beautiful than we had imagined. Our campsite offered the perfect view—quiet, peaceful, and close enough to the town for us to explore.

Since Marc’s father wasn’t able to join us for hikes, he settled into the motorhome, perfectly content with a good book and a cup of tea. He loved being able to enjoy the serenity of the mountains without needing to trek far, which was ideal for him. Meanwhile, Marc, Bernice, and I set out to explore some of the surrounding trails.

St. Moritz had so much to offer, from picturesque town streets to alpine paths that offered breathtaking views of the glaciers and valleys below. Marc and I took Bernice on a few short hikes, soaking in the fresh mountain air and capturing photos of the jaw-dropping scenery. The cool breeze and the dramatic landscapes were invigorating, and Bernice, as always, was in her element, leading the way on the trails.

Though Marc’s dad couldn’t hike, he loved hearing about our little adventures when we returned to the motorhome. In the evenings, we’d sit around the table, share stories, and enjoy dinner while Bernice dozed after her busy day. It was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, with each of us enjoying the trip in our own way.

A Family Adventure to Remember

While Marc and I explored the outdoors, Marc’s dad enjoyed the beauty of St. Moritz from the comfort of the motorhome. The shared moments—whether hiking through alpine trails or simply sitting together in the motorhome, looking out at the mountains—made this family road trip one to remember.
